Celebrating International Credit Union Day 2020
International Credit Union Day is Thursday, October 15, 2020, and this year’s theme of celebration is “Inspiring Hope for a Global Community.” While we navigate through the difficulties this year has certainly brought about, we’re taking the time virtually to recognize the tremendous work of the credit union movement over the years, promote its achievements and share our valuable member experiences.
While there are numerous benefits of being a part of a Credit Union, we share some of the top incentives below from the Canadian Credit Union Association:
Credit Unions Save Canadians More Money
Credit Unions’ commitment to members’ financial well-being and cooperative model helps Canadians to hold on to more of their money by returning profits to members through profit sharing and low/no fees, through community investments in the form of donations, scholarships and other initiatives and through a national network of surcharge-free ATMs.
You Have an Equal Voice on How We Operate
Credit unions are owned by their members – you! All members have an equal say in how their credit union operates, no matter how much or little you have in your account. Members can voice their concerns and vote on the issues that matter to them.
We Support Our Local Communities
Credit unions are community-minded, and as such we make sure to contribute to our economic, social, and environmental well-being. Learn more about some of the ways that credit unions are helping local communities prosper here.
